History of the company

Heinz Bierbaum founded the company in Duesseldorf in 1956. Due to the massive growth of the currency markets Bierbaum + Co. developed dynamically and established it's name as a key player in the global foreign exchange market. As the leading voice broker in the world throughout the 1980's and 1990's Bierbaum + Co. acquired several smaller competitors and reached a global presence with 21 offices all over the world. In 1995 Bierbaum merged with EXCO PLC and the head office moved from Duesseldorf to Frankfurt one year later. EXCO-Bierbaum GmbH was acquired by ICAP PLC in 1998 and in 1999 an MBO was undertaken by 7 senior employees.
Since then Bierbaum extended it’s voice services by implanting various e-trading platforms into the service structure and defended it’s market leading position within the multi-portal FX broking market until end of 2013. Today BierbaumPro AG is solely focused on electronic liquidity providing exclusively for institutional customers.
